OUR BANANAS

We produce sustainable certified Cavendish bananas of the highest quality.

To the international market we pack green bananas on a carton box 22XU of 18.14 kilos of net fruit. In the local market we sell green bananas, in plastic containers of 13 kilos of net fruit, to our sister ripening/marketer company LANCOFRUIT. In both cases is first quality banana certified Rain Forest Alliance and Global Gap.

The process of producing bananas with these values is the result of an unbroken and continuous chain of three factors.

Land & Weather
Infrastructure
Management

La Nueva Pubenza management is based in transparency, productivity and efficiency.

LAND & WEATHER: PRODUCTION

La Nueva Pubenza is located in a prime area of Province de el Oro. Land mechanics composition and quality is ideal for banana production. Over 85% of our soil is rated as first and second-class for agricultural purposes. 15% is rated as third class.

Raining as measured in mm is an important factor and advantage over other areas in the country since raining season is mild. Water supply is abundant.

This soil quality and weather gives us a base to achieve high quality bananas with a profitable yield of boxes/hectare/year.

We have in the past year achieved a high productivity ratio of 3,217 boxes per net hectare of banana production. Maintaining an average of 10.70 leaves at time of harvesting. Thus guaranteeing a high degree of quality at our costumers fruits markets locations.

INFRASTRUCTURE

At La Nueva Pubenza we had the guidance and designs of independent engineers trained with top infrastructure technology and best agricultural practices. Our irrigation, drainage, transporting rail system, packing plant, agricultural practices are designed with the highest possibly technology and infrastructure available in Ecuador in the banana business.

QUALITY

We have implemented an online APP that controls all our operations. A novelty, and for the first time operating in Ecuador, is a real-time APP that allows our clients to see our quality control process. Customers can see the weight of each box packed for them. They receive in real time audit results of up to 2% of the total boxes with photographs of the process included.

In the near future, our clients will have at their disposal the combined data in real time from the audits carried out both at the port of disembarkation and from the audits of our packing plant. In this way, the clients and La Nueva Pubenza will have statistical data that will be used to further improve our quality of banana boxes produced.

PALMAR GROUP is the exporter of our fruit. And its client in EUROPE is COBANA FRUITRING. The latter has two main brands. A own brand, COBANA, and another from the REWE Supermarket.

At La Nueva Pubenza we are proud of our association with Palmar Group. We are one of the oldest banana farm Palmar’s exclusive producer. And only that has sold all of its production of bananas exclusively to Palmar.

For us to be associated thru Palmar with COBANA FRUITRING is a sign of our commitment to produce quality sustainable bananas.

Our quality as reported by their external audit company at the port of disembark, Hanseatic Tally Service, is:
